Celebrating, Honoring, and Remembering

18 Occasions for Giving Tzedakah

Getting Involved on a Committee

Celebrating, Honoring and Remembering

Designated Funds

B.A. has established a series of Designated Funds to celebrate or memorialize special occasions, while helping to support the various functions of the congregation. Contributions can be made in honor or memory of special people in your life, or for occasions in your own life (see 18 Occasions For Giving Tzedakah). An acknowledgment card can be sent to any person you designate.

To make a Designated Fund Contribution, you can use the form included in every issue of The Shofar, or a coupon from our Tribute Funds coupon books.

Beth Ahavah's Tribute Funds include the following:

  • Rabbi Salary Fund:  To support Congregation Beth Ahavah's Rabbi.
  • Leadership Development Fund:  Assists representatives with registration and/or travel, at UAHC, Federation and World Congress events.
  • General Fund:  Where the need is greatest within the congregation.
  • Ritual Objects Fund:  For religious and ritual objects to enhance our sanctuary.
  • Bikur Holim Fund / Emergency Assistance Fund:  Provides comfort to the sick and bereaved. Helps provide emergency assistance a congregant may require due to illness, disability or other problems.
  • Educational Programming and Library Fund:  To support educational programs and help maintain our library.
  • Building Beautification and Improvement Fund:  To maintain and beautify the Synagogue building.
  • Memorial and Yahrzeit Fund:  To be used for general congregational needs.
  • Prayer Book Fund:  All donations are appreciated, but a $36 gift covers the full cost of a dedicated prayer book.

Oneg and Flowers Sponsors
Please contact the synagogue if you would like to sponsor an Oneg Shabbat or the flowers for a Friday night service or for any other Holiday.

Yahrzeits and Memorial Plaques
In our sanctuary is Beth Ahavah's Memorial Board. To purchase a plaque, please contact the synagogue to request the proper form.

Our plan for this year is to mail a reminder to each person who has informed us of a yahrzeit date. The yahrzeits are also listed in the service brochure at Friday night services and in The Shofar. Please be aware that yahrzeits are listed by the Hebrew date, which may be as much as 5 weeks different from the English date. Please contact the synagogue if you need to find out the correct date.

Yizkor Book
Every year, as part of the preparation for High Holidays, a special mailing is sent to everyone inviting participation in the Yizkor Book, which is distributed as part of the Yizkor service on Yom Kippur.
