The Union for Reform Judaism
Beth Ahavah has been a member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), the Reform Movement, since 1989. The URJ provides us with administrative, management and logistical support, has facilitated leadership training and board development seminars, arranged for us to receive our first Torah, and has been a good friend. Members of B.A. are entitled to receive a free subscription to their quarterly publication, Reform Judaism, by requesting it on their membership form or by sending us a note.

Beth Ahavah also maintains a visible presence in the URJ as a gay, lesbian and bisexual congregation. We recognize that for most of our members, their identity with B.A. is as a gay, lesbian or bisexual Jew. Our religious identity may run the gamut from practically Orthodox to avowedly secular and we are attempting to build a community that meets everyone's needs.

Reform Judaism accepts, and in fact, encourages, pluralism. Reform Judaism stresses that each individual has the responsibility and the right to choose whether to subscribe to a particular belief or practice. Reform Judaism (and the URJ) provides the guidance we need to make informed choices.
